Sentry
Battery Chargers
Sentry Battery Chargers are available in a
wide range of models and are offered in both switchmode (SM) and
Ferro-Resonant (FR) technologies
SM
Battery Chargers
 |
Sentry SM battery chargers from
Cruisair are highly sophisticated electronic devices based on advanced
solid-state switchmode technology. |
The Sentry switchmode chargers are designed
for unattended operation. When current is requested or the battery needs
charging, the Sentry SM charger responds with the required output. The
three-step charger brings your battery up to full charge very quickly.
When the battery reaches a float condition, output is reduced to match
that requested by the battery. The unit also acts as a power supply to
operate your 12 or 24 VDC systems directly, should the need arise.
Flexible
Sentry SM-Series Chargers are available in 12 and
24V models in capacities ranging from 10 to 120 amps. Most models can be set for
115 or 230 VAC operation with a simple internal adjustment. They can accommodate
50 or 60 Hz power with automatic switchover. Some larger capacity chargers must
be ordered for 115 or 230V input. The chargers can work efficiently with low
supply voltages and poor-quality AC waveforms from generators. An easy manual
switch is used to select output for gel cell or lead acid batteries. Most Sentry
SM models offer three indpendent outputs for charging three separate battery
banks simultaneously. The 12V, 10 and 20 amp models provide two outputs.
Easy
Operating the Sentry SM charger couldn't
be easier. You turn it on and leave it on. That ís all. Convenient front
panel indicators give a readout of system status. An optional indicator
panel is also available on most models for remote mounting.
Quality
The Sentry SM chargers are built to ABYC and UL
standards and are CE certified for export to Europe. They are designed with
protection against over temperature and short circuit, and are equipped with
input and output fuses. They are ignition protected and current limited.
FR
Battery Chargers
 |
Sentry FR chargers use dependable, proven
ferro-resonant technology ensuring reliable, trouble free performance in a
harsh environment. The ferro-resonant transformer and other internal
components are readily available providing easy field repairs worldwide |
Sentry FR-series chargers are designed for
totally automatic, unattended operation. All you have to do is set the
front-panel switch to "automatic", and the Sentry charger takes
over. It monitors all battery banks. Whenever it senses a drop in voltage
to the cut-in level, the charger comes on, maintaining the load of your DC
system while taking care of your batteries. As the battery approaches full
charge, the Sentry's ferro-resonant transformer gradually tapers back the
charging current. Then the charger turns itself completely off until it's
needed again. When it's off, it's completely off. There's absolutely no
output trickle to overcharge and dehydrate, damage or warp your batteries'
cell plates
Wide Range of Choices.
Sentry FR-series chargers are available in
a wide range of 12V, 24V and 32V models, with output current ranging from
20 to 60 amps. Standard input power is 115 or 230 VAC power. Models are
available for 50/60 Hz operation. Standard Sentry units have negative
ground with triple output, permitting up to three separate banks of
batteries to be charged simultaneously. A fourth output is available on
some larger models. A manual/automatic selector switch, ammeter, full
charge and power indicator are conveniently located on the front panel.
Reliability Is Built In.
Sentry FR chargers are designed for
dependable operation in a hostile environment, providing continuous
operation in hot engine compartments at temperatures up to 122° F (50°
C). The units compensate automatically for fluctuations in dockside
voltage. Fifteen percent change in input causes one percent change in
output. All models are current limited, and fully ignition protected. The
charger has an auto reset DC breaker, allowing the automatic recharge of
severely depleted batteries. Isolation-type step-down transformers
eliminate the possibility of electrolysis. All products meet applicable
yacht safety standards.
